Though it been 4 days that the Nagarkot incident had happen which took lives of 12 innocent people, the incident is still top news in Kathmandu. Not only the front pages of the daily Newspapers are filled with the follow up of the Nagarkot massacre but the questions regarding the same incident is still disturbing the Nepalese citizens. Nagarkot is still in deep grief after loosing its 12 civilians. The grief can now be filled in the other parts of the country as the protest against the Nagarkot has spread all over the nation. Kathmandu valley protests the incident by supporting the general strike. On Friday nobody was on the Good Friday mood as the frame of mind of the citizens were captured by the Nagarkot incident. But the Royal Nepalse Army has asked public not to generalise the incident and protest against whole Royal Nepalese Army. Some say that the incident has now been politicalised. But prior to the two inspection commissions decission on the the incident The Human Rights Organization of Nepal ( HURON ), after the spot inspection has accused Royal Nepalese Army ( RNA ) of attempting to cover up the wednesday’s incident. HURON releasing a report of its probe comitte ahs said “ as the RNA has destroyed evidences and didn’t allow the police and civilians to probe into the massacre it is clear that RNA wants to cover up the Nagarkot incident which was carried out by one of the RNA soldiers” The Report also raises the question about the so called “sucide “of the Bashudev Thapa as he was found shooted in the chest. “It maight be the bullet of the soldiers friend who were present on the spot which shot Thapa” Report says. It is said that the bloodstains were also covered by the RNA before anyone reach the sopt. Doubting the fair report will be prepared, HURON has querried how he was able to carry his weapon from the Barracks at midnight. Meanwhile the Chief of Army Staff, General Pyar Jung Thapa has said that RNA will help in any ways it can to support the families of those who were killed. Speaking with the press on his arrival at the Tribhuwan Airport from 5 days visit to Pakistan thapa said “ The Government has also provided some compensation, we are also ready to help the relatives of victims by either providing the jobs or the financila support to them “ Chief of army, Thapa added “we cant generalise the incident at a moment.the incident has been carried out by one individual soldier. I’m deeply dismayed by the incident” Earlier in capital the security experts and the human right activists blamed that the incident was the result of growing indescipline of the RNA.They also said that the incident is a blur in the image of RNA. Renowned human right activist, Krishna Pahadi said” Nagarkot incident has blurred the image of Nepal in international arena. so government do a fair probe in the incident.” Other stressed “ giving money to the relatives of the victims is not a solution, it should insure that such incidents wont happen later.” Meanwhile, Maoist rebels have also named the Nagarkot incident as inhuman behaviour of RNA. Spokesperson of maoist Krishna Bahadur Mahara issuing a press statement on Dec 16 has said "Auctocratic monarchy who tries to lengthen its regime by playing with the blood of innocent people has to take responsabilities of that incident" Similarly maoist has expressed its condolence to the families of the victims of Nagarkot incident and has asked other to protest against the autocratic monarchy and outcast it. Question Raised by HURON why wer the RNA personnel wearing a civil dress present on the feast of public ? Who gave Bashudev Thapa a loaded weapon with sufficient magazines from barracks when he returned from the Chian Dada after fighting with civilians ? Why did RNA tried to omit the evidence from the spot early in the morning ? Why was 2 inspection committee formed ? Where is the weapon used by Thapa ? and who holds the authority of it ? Is the compensation provided by the Government to the relatives of victims enough ? |
