Kantipur Television journalist Prakash Chandra Pariyar was awarded with this year’s National Journalism Award on Saturday. According to Jagaran Media Centre, a seven-member committee under the coordination of Senior Journalist Kishor Nepal approved Pariyar for the award for his contribution in disseminating awareness on social justice, human rights and castes discrimination. Finance Minister Barsa Man Pun awarded Pariyar, also a Central Committee member of Federation of Nepali Journalist, during a programme organised in the Capital on Saturday. Pariyar was also handed 25,000 cash prize and a memento for the same. Along with Pariyar Journalists Dev Pachvaiya, and Milan Pariyar were also awarded during the programme. Addressing the function, Finance Minister Barsa Man Pun praised media’s contribution in alerting the people on human rights, social awareness and social transformation. Furthermore, Minister Pun assured that the government is planning to bring programmes to resolve the problems faced by journalists in Nepal. Lawmakers Binod Pahadi, Secretary of Ministry of Communication and Information Shreedhar Khanal, General Secretary of Ministry of Communication and Information Om Sharma Prakasah Chandra Khanal, Nirmala Sharma talked about the challenges faced by journalists, their responsibility and about responsible journalism. |
